Two archers from the Summer Capital, Elizabeth Bayla and Agustina Bantiloc, brought pride to the entire country after winning the bronze medal in the Women’s Compound Open Doubles category at the 2026 ASEAN Paralympic Games held in Thailand on January 17. Bayla is a resident of Purok 4, Irisan barangay and Bantiloc, a veteran archer originally from Baguio but now residing in Vigan and traces her roots to Kalinga. Bayla began her archery journey in 2019 under the recurve compound category before transitioning to compound archery in 2024, where she trained alongside Bantiloc, who has been competing since 2017. They trained in Vigan for several days before the competition, focusing on doubles and mixed teams. Bayla admitted that her workload and involvement in multiple organizations limited her training time and with the ASEAN Para Games only weeks away, she felt their preparation was insufficient.

Councilor Edison Bilog has proposed an ordinance institutionalizing the National Bible Month every January to promote moral reflection, ethical leadership, and civic responsibility among residents. Under the proposed ordinance, the observance of National Bible Month in Baguio City will focus on educational, inspirational, and values-oriented activities. The city government may encourage, facilitate, or support programs such as values-based forums, seminars, lectures, and symposia that highlight universal principles like integrity, justice, peace, compassion, stewardship, and service. Voluntary Bible reading, reflection, or study activities may be conducted by faith-based organizations, schools, and community groups, ensuring that participation is entirely voluntary and non-compulsory. The ordinance also encourages interfaith and values-centered dialogues to promote mutual respect, understanding, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among people of diverse beliefs.
Residents and tourists will be given another treat by local tourism industry stakeholders with the upcoming offering of the ‘Pasta Mania’ which is a new twist during the celebration of the 18th Hotel and Restaurant Tourism (HRT) Weekend in the city. Anthony de Leon, president of the 200-member Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) and general manager of the Baguio Country Club (BCC), said that the pasta that will be prepared by the members and participating establishments will be capable of feeding around 15,000 people right at the SM City Baguio Atrium on October 2, 2025.
