Councilor Edison Bilog has proposed an ordinance institutionalizing the National Bible Month every January to promote moral reflection, ethical leadership, and civic responsibility among residents.
Under the proposed ordinance, the observance of National Bible Month in Baguio City will focus on educational, inspirational, and values-oriented activities. The city government may encourage, facilitate, or support programs such as values-based forums, seminars, lectures, and symposia that highlight universal principles like integrity, justice, peace, compassion, stewardship, and service.
Voluntary Bible reading, reflection, or study activities may be conducted by faith-based organizations, schools, and community groups, ensuring that participation is entirely voluntary and non-compulsory. The ordinance also encourages interfaith and values-centered dialogues to promote mutual respect, understanding, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among people of diverse beliefs.
